Department of International Law at Lviv University has long history of development. At the beginning of the XX century “department” in their modern meaning did not exist and was equated with the Professor who conducted lectures. The first international law department was established parallel with caming to Lviv Gustaw Roszkowski in 1878 who was Professor of Philosophy of Law and International Law. Next international law department was linked to personality of Zygmunt Cybicowski professor of Law of Nations and International Private Law. Zybichowski was successor of Roszkowski at Lviv University and started his work there in 1912. 1929 Ludwik Ehrlich held the position of ordinary professor of the law of nations and science of state and headed department of international law. After WW II department of international law existed until 1953 and was short headed by Valentyna Preobrazhenska. In 1991 department of international law was reopened. Professor Vasyl Repetskyy held the position of its head until now.

19 травня 2026 року Львівський національний університет імені Івана Франка відвідала делегація Консультативної місії Європейського Союзу в Україні на чолі з головою КМЄС в Україні Рольфом Холмбо.
До складу делегації КМЄС в Україні увійшли очільник Рольф Холмбо (Данія), голова Львівського регіонального представництва Ханнелоре Вальєр (Німеччина), експерт з питань правоохоронних органів Віктор Новожилов виконавча асистентка керівника апарату Іва Петковіц  (Хорватія) та перекладач Роман Ліпчанський.

The Faculty of International Relations celebrates the 30th anniversary

On December 23, 2022, the conference “Tomorrow comes today: contours of future international relations” was held in the Assembly Hall of the University, dedicated to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Day of Ukrainian Diplomacy. Government representatives, leading Ukrainian diplomats, scientists, educators and the academic community of Lviv University took part in the celebrations.
