On August 18, 2022, the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University was visited by the Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres.

The visit of such a high-level official once again proved the important role played by Lviv University, and in particular the Faculty of International Relations, in the education of professional diplomats and international lawyers, who today guard the national interests of the Ukrainian state.

The Secretary General of the UN gave a short press conference in the courtyard of the faculty, noting that this school formed famous scientists who made an important contribution to the development of the UN Charter, the study of the Holocaust, as well as the creation of fundamental concepts of the protection of human rights and the individual criminal responsibility of high-ranking state officials for genocide and crimes against humanity.

Antonio Guterres noted that it was an important experience for him to visit this faculty of Lviv University. “I was delighted to accept the invitation of the director of this faculty of international relations of the very old and very respected [National] University of Lviv,” Antonio Guterres said at the press conference.
